I am definitely more partial to what is jokingly referred to as his "earlier, funnier work" - mainly his films in the mid- and late '70s. There have been a few others that I couldn't live without since then (including The Purple Rose of Cairo), but to me that actually was his glory period.

Good list, Catherine. For me, his richest period was when he made five in a row that I can't live without: Zelig, Broadway Danny Rose, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Radio Days. I have never forgiven him for wrecking his working relationship with Mia Farrow; she was good for his work, and he was good for hers.
