A Listen Back: Music Discovered at TIFF 2010

How these tracks interact with the films, you'll just have to wait and see.
From Vincent Gallo's Promises Written in Water:
From Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives:
Not playing: the piano piece used with such solemn weight in Catherine Breillat's Sleeping Beauty. I think it's Liszt but I didn't catch what it was. So listen (and look) out. Pictured above: either Promises Written in Water or a photograph from the production, or something related.

Well, let’s hope Vincent Gallo actually decides to release the film (which I somehow doubt).
p.s: The image is not from Promises but from a Delfine Bafort model photo shooting… looks nice nonetheless.
Pretty sure the Breillat piece is Rachmaninoff, but I don’t know what composition.
Penguin Villa is my new favorite band. Been playing them non-stop for weeks.
What’s interesting about that shot from the “model photo shooting” (thanks Grey!) is how much it resembles the mise-en-scene of the scene in which the Aphex Twin track plays.
Brian: it could well be Rock. Let me know if you are able to track it down.
