    It seems that the jury was too generous, spreading out the awards to half the main competition entries. I think whichever film wins the Palme d’Or should also be given the Best Director plum. Hanif Kureishi, a juror, said of Kinatay: I myself don’t want to watch it ever again.

    The Best Screenplay award was for Feng Mei, not Lou. Lou accepted it on her behalf, which is probably why so many sources (even AFP!) are getting mixed up.

    The Cannes Jury very rarely gives a film more than one prize. They are traditionally spread amongst the admired films both in Un Certain Regard and the main competition.

    It’s not that rare, it’s happened in seven out of the past ten years. (And Un Certain Regard has a different jury.)
