The Criterion Collection presents
Jan 2009 Killer Movies
We’re slicing into 2009 with a bloody-good selection of films for our January festival. Whether a serial murderer, a yakuza hit man, or an aspiring wife killer, each malefactor presented in these wide-ranging movies commands our attention with devilish charisma. Nobody would ever mistake them for nice guys, but these villains are hard to resist, especially as evilly embodied by the likes of Ken Ogata, Marcello Mastroianni, and Daniel Giménez Cacho. As these films demonstrate, sometimes it’s hard not to have sympathy for the devil.
