The Criterion Collection presents
Feb 2009 And the Oscar Goes To...
With the eighty-first annual Academy Awards upon us, it seemed like a good time to highlight a handful of the more than forty Oscar-winning films in the collection. The six features in this month’s festival, each named Best Foreign Language Film, are all indomitable classics of the art house, from such filmmakers as Marcel Camus, Federico Fellini, Jacques Tati, and Ingmar Bergman. Decades after they first hit our shores, helping to introduce us to a generation of cineastes, these works remain golden.
