the film gets better each time I see it – so many universal themes and so much going on. I love the near misses and the superb control Kieslowski has over the whole thing. At one point (while Irene Jacob is rushing to stop her car alarm going off) we tend to look at the man (who she finally meets in the amazing but understated final frame). Even though they are in the same shot we notice him and miss her, as he also does. Outstanding.
