Watch Judy Davis go. In the role of Sally, a woman who falls into the single life after a lifetime spent with her husband reaches it’s limit, Judy Davis creates a realistic, unforgettable and very often hilarious (“Metabolically, it’s not my rhythm”.) portrait. To watch her blaze through a scene is something quite extraordinary. No one is safe and you believe as if she could rip out a man’s heart without a blink of an eye. She’s plays cool, confident and severe (“Fucking Don Juans! They should have cut his fucking dick off.”). However, in tender moments we learn Sally is actually far from confident and Judy Davis shows this effortlessly – changing emotions, sometimes within a second, flawlessly and believably. The audience knows at any given moment she could fall into pieces and when it happens, it is quite beautiful.
