This is a beautiful film from Dagur Kari, the director of Noi Albanoi. I went to see this film based solely on having seen Noi Albanoi at TIFF many years ago and was interested to see what Dagur was up to. I wasn’t disappointed.
Very funny and with a poignancy many films strive for but never achieve, A Good Heart continues Kari’s fascination with characters steeped in their own worlds. The performances by all involved are stellar, particularly Brian Cox, who fully embraces every facet of the cantankerous Jacques.
