I would never think Tolkien would write such cliche stories, with so much unrealistic stuff, so I really hope it’s only because of the bad adaptation – yeah it’s fantasy, but I hate it when people use it as an excuse for bullshit. I don’t know a lot fantasy stories, but the ones I do are far more convincing, dramatic, realistic, creative and are not forcing me into rolling with my eyes because of the sugar-drama-dialogues…It is too thick with the happening, there is not one real pause to make the next “unexpected” complication on their journey stand for itself (except of the boring first part) and I guess it’s because of the length of the book, but it should be concidered that it doesn’t work. I also know I should not judge the written words on the movie, but this adaptation just took away the wish to read the original. I should have known it when I read The Hobit that gave me the same feeling, but everybody said it’s like that because it’s for children. But what’s worse is that this movie wants to be for adults but it’s even more childish than The Hobit because it’s just a big fairytail that doesn’t chalenge my mind in any way. The magic, the main thing when it comes to the fantasy genre, is not working for me either. And once again, the special effects are rescuing it. I was so looking forward to this one:(
