Finally had a chance to watch this back to back with The Testament of Dr. Mabuse. Both are great films and while they drift toward the pulpy side of storytelling Lang’s work here is still innovative and at times breathtaking.
Oddly enough reminded me of Saw. Not for the violence but for the calculating villain that is always one step ahead of everyone including the audience and can manipulate all angles to his nefarious ends.
