Bava’s second Viking epic. Actually it’s a bit too small scale to really be an epic but very worth watching regardless. Almost all of the film was written and shot in a mere six days, which is probably why the story, some sort of rehash of Shane, doesn’t really stick in the mind. Still it works while it is on. It’s more character driven than is usual for Bava and the actors (and presumably Bava) are more than capable. And of course the photography is stunning.
