This ‘ending’ was definitely better than the ending delivered by the original television series. I felt more satisfied with the events for the most part and I was able to understand the story a little more. Still, the ‘ultimate ending’ and climax of this installment left me quite hollow none the less. In order to understand the layers of the conclusion I had to do my research into many other fans reviews and theories.

While I do consider this version to be the ‘end’ rather than what I got from the series, my hopes are still set high for the rebuild. I did particularly favour the final exchange between Misato and Shinji as one of my favourite elements of this release. It was charged full of emotion and I must applaud the voice actors (particularly that of Misato) for a job well done. Miss Katsuragi continues to be one of my favourite anime characters of all time. I just love her!
