Director Duncan Jones’s first feature film “Moon” was a sci-fi indie gem with a budget of $5 million. Despite this small budget, Jones proved that it is possible to make a successful sc-fi film without spending millions of dollars. So I was wondering what Jones could do with a big budget with his new film “Source Code”. However the result was a total disappointment. Source Code might win Jones a mainstream recognition and the moviegoers out for pure entertainment will surely enjoy the result, but for those who are expecting a film like Moon, it will not be satisfactory as the film is not a sc-fi film, it is an action film which tries to appease mainstream audience expectations.

What disturbed me most was the background of the film (the war in Afghanistan and domestic terrorism). It was totally irrelevant to the film, the film is not concerned any of this.The motivations behind the terrorist attack were unsatisfying. In fact, little of these plots seems necessary to the film itself.
