Terrible script. AMAZING MOVIE!

The terrible, cliche-ridden and character-less script (filled with silly leaps of logic) in no way diminishes this absolutely amazing Indonesian action flick. Despite only the occasional overuse of the tired/gimmicky shaky cam, the action is inventive and reads incredibly well on the screen. The whole endeavor feels like the second coming of a young John Carpenter, complete with minmal synth soundtrack (by Mike Shinoda), ramping tension and close quarters environment. Fantastically directed, with almost every creative decision in service of the action. The martial arts (the style is Pencak Silat) work in this is astounding and incredibly fast. Lead Iko Uwais and villain Yayan Ruhian, who both choreographed all the fight sequences, are freaking unstoppable machines. Particularly Ruhian, who has got to be the most dangerous dude I’ve seen put on film in years. The action is inventive, fast, edgy as hell and totally driving. This is the kind of film Gina Carano needs to showcase her talent.
