Scott delivered a lot of intimacy with the audience and the characters. You can be deaf and ride parallels with their thoughts that dive deeply into fear as the movie rolls along. Ripley is a classic hero, as the robot said, ‘clouded with delusions of morality’. Kotto & Stanton were a great lift which the film needed, as “Taxi Driver” needed Al Brooks. This is an example of strategy in story-telling, some are better at it than others. Some people know good stories but they’re bad at telling them. Scott gives the straights dope, dark cinematography which often sparks hand-held shots like upper-cuts.
