This is ‘The Big Chill’ for the 90’s (the 90’s viewing generation that is, it is set in the 1973).

It’s darker.

Affluence, boredom, adultery – suburban bliss is all veneer.

But these people are real, and boy are they real – Ricci looks like an over ripe peach. Can anyone play ‘sexually precocious’ better than she? I feel ‘dirty’ just watching.

This film is so sharp and intelligent and the cast so good.

There is something not fully realised in the film that I can’t put my finger on? – no, I didn’t expect a happy ending – but it is so pleasurable watching this calibre of talent working together like this, that I’ve stopped letting it niggle away at me.
