I just got an idea to start shooting. So I hope to do have something up soon (i.e. 1-2 weeks).

I’ve been burning midnight oil and now I’m going to bed. This 05:00 site however is er… mid process—- I am moving something about and redoing another thing and so on. so I know it flickers, although I quite like it. And I know it’s a mishmash of cuts and some of them don’t play. Normally I’d bury all this behind a wall with a logo on it, but I’m not doing that for this project. Please don’t message me about it. I know already.

okay, i’ve read everything. this looks amazing. i’d like to secure spot 2:01. and if 3:01 and 4:01 are available i’d like to takes those too. you won’t be disappointed. thrilled to be a part of this and wish i’d known about it sooner.

the films are not loaded, but everything’s been tested, and it will all work. each page will have a slightly different look/color coding/mechanism, reflecting a new stage of the project. I’ll drop instructs on how to navigate the site and login passwords and so forth in the next 24 hours.
the first cuts will appear in pop up windows currently occupied by the synaesthesiac logo. The whole video cut streaming thing has been a headache. For now you stay on with DM and in the next week I’m going to gather from you all your cuts in high quality (zipped) and build a video player.

Meanwhile, I have written and rehearsed the first of my two scripted pieces. I don’t sleep anymore.

there are revisions to the rules. those of you who want to push into this project more deeply, follow the rules as already posted. for a couple of you I’ve got special operations: less stressful.

at this point the project is looking for four audio contributors (I make the fifth). Message me.
You must be able to show commitment to the project.

From this point forward, 05:00 can go one of two ways.

1st Way) South. Tentative commitment will yield nothing but tentative art.

The project is demanding: it asks for discipline, ritual, and that is hard to master alone. If you did the first stage correctly, you will now have no fear of holding a raw camera up to life, to its very face. It’s the easiest kind of filmmaking there is. It just takes presence of mind.

2nd Way) In a best case scenario, nobody is pissing about. We do something unique.
It’s what you do with NOW that matters.

Hmm I will have to read the rules a couple more times. It seems that the third stage is more stringent than the second stage?

I’m not sure what I’m going to do. An actress I approached with my new idea never responded. I guess I have to find a new idea and a new actress.

OK we are live.
There are inevitably teething troubles with any new site.
Filmmakers log in and drop science on the site, either via the conference/chat application or as a wall post.

I’ll send out a message to everyone in the next 24 hours. This will be a complete project breakdown, and I’ll fill you in on some behind the scenes development re: arts grants and funding.

I also need each filmmaker/sound artist to message me with information they want on their personal 05:00 profiles. These are not updatable (yet) but each profile includes optional image viewer and/or film slider, and whatever text you’d like. It’s fully SEO (search engine optimized), so you’ll show up top of Google in a matter of days if you fill your profile in. Information I must have for your profile is your location and your time zone, so I can begin to coordinate the online conferences/dialogues.

There are few other areas need work.
One of these is the downloads page.

At some point very soon, after we’ve all finished with the profile updates and the last of the base 00:00 > 05:00 numbers are finished, I’m going to ask you all to zip up your cuts and send them to me. I will then install the originals in a 05:00 database in highest quality .mov and .avi formats. As we progress to the later stages, the ability for each of you to download cuts and soundtracks is essential if we are going to shape and edit the film into something great. It’ll be on a password only access basis, and only the filmmakers will have the power to download.

As soon as I have the cuts, I will transfer the pop-up video players from Dailymotion to our own flash players which look f**king sweet and play in very HQ.

On the subject of Dailymotion, I am about to convert that account to a MotionMaker upgrade. This means we can customize the site there, and you can upload in higher quality and with greater MB. On the downside, it will take 12 hours for DM to process any new cuts, so it will be a case of log-in, upload and check back tomorrow.

The first round of cuts (00:00>05:00) are colored orange and gray. The subsidiary cuts that come on top of these (00:00:01>04:09:01) will be colored a complementary blue (azure) and green. This is so you can identify the later cuts.

Very very soon the project page level 02 will open. It has a similar layout to the first level, but with some twists/advances, a different broadcast page (I’ll explain what the broadcast thing is later, it’s something I’m going to be working on with MAO) and a different color scheme.

The last things that need to go up on the level one page (the current one) are soundclips. These will be positioned just to the left of the video boxes (smaller, more compact thumbs) — in a cluster of what will ultimately be 24 soundfiles. I have 5 of these ready to go, but I need to get some sleep so I’ll upload them later today/tomorrow.

I am calling a conference of as many of us as we can muster for Sunday 07th December 2008. I will message you times.
