What does this have to do with Brazil?
There’s 1984 starring John Hurt.
Michael Anderson filmed it in 1956.I believe it was also done for TV a couple of times. I think there’s another remake slated for 2010 as well.
BRAZIL seems very indebted to 1984. It’s also an incredible Philip K. Dick-ian movie, without directly being adapted from any one of his novels or stories…more accurate in tone than BLADE RUNNER, really (though I like BLADE RUNNER as a movie more).
The Title in the works when Brazil was being made was 1984 1/2, so yeah it’s indebted to it. But my question was how many adaptations of 1984 are their, I know their the 84’ one and Brazil, but what else? And are any of them good?
An American one in 56 – Kind of film noir
A British TV in the 50s- supposed to be the best
The 1984 one- The MTV version
Thats it as far as I can tell
Chek IMDB.com for complete info.
It was also done on the American TV series “Studio One” in 1953 and the British series “Theatre 625” in 1965.
Ridley Scott’s 1984
