@ R. Sure, It’ll be a pleasure for me to ellaborate in the Voting Secrets thread late tonight if it’s okay with you. It’ll be also interesting to know why did you chose that film as well.
Sorry for the uncalled-for outburst and personal attack on kuxa. I’ll reserve my bile for the films themselves going forward.

That’s all we ask. ;)
And you’re a conducting a nice Cup.

yay! farce
finally! a film i’ve already seen (touki bouki) xD i feel hopelessly behind and the voting hasn’t even started!
paris! paris! paris! yay for Mambéty.
I hadn’t realised Touki Bouki wasn’t in the last world cup- then again, we had a lot of other African goodies to discover.
I think there were a couple films from Mambéty in the first World Cup but I couldn’t find any record of Touki Bouki being used. I thought at one point someone had suggested it to me and told me it was free to watch on MUBI, but now it doesn’t look like it’s availble to watch here at all (at least in my region). Too bad I didn’t watch it at that time.
Depending on how much I watch for this Cup, I’ll could be able to remove Naked Island and now Touki Bouki off my ‘To Watch’ list so I thank the individuals who choose them.

^ Now that’s four films from my ‘To Watch’ list from my page. I was considering starting up a forum group to clear through it but the Cup’s going to help me do it. :D
Good match. I have a link for Joan of angles but not one for temptation.
Sh… another hard match for me ….
Mother Joan of Angels is definitely one of the most profound/moving films in history – so glad to see it in the cup
Yeah! The first film of the entire cup I’ve already seen(The Temptation of St. Tony). Gonna get a break in april. Either I’m a newbie or I don’t watch the right movies I guess.
Match #16: Thursday, April 12 – Sunday, April 15

I am quite agitated by Memories of Underdevelopment only because the very top item I put on my own list was Alea’s “Death of a Bureaucrat” which I would have LOVED to have seen in this cup. But Maximilian put this Alea film high up on his list and beat me out. Oh well. I’ve seen this film before, but it’s been about twelve years so I’ll look forward to seeing it again.
oh yay. i can start my ‘most attractive man in a white shirt in the mubi 2012 world cup’ list. on the other hand, my beard list is already pretty strong.
Just a heads up, I will soon be heading away from my home for several days so I may not be as readily available. Also I can’t guarantee I’ll be announcing many if any new matches in the next couple of days either.
Just showed a 35mm print of Memories of Underdevelopment at my work last Thursday. It was an excellent film, so Paradise Now has quite a lot to live up to!
i thought the idea was to submit films with less than 50 fans?? paradise now has close to 500, having had good distribution in the US. it’s easily accessible on dvd
People were allowed to submit films that had up to 1,000 fans. While that film might be better known and had better distribution than a lot of films used so far, I personally hadn’t heard of it, so I’m exicted to see it and discuss it.
man these last 4 matches are full of films i’ve never even heard of….excited!
kk i misunderstood
So, Palestine is in, jolly good, and v another country i have goodwill towards. Note the flags have something in common. Maybe i should watch Memories of Underdevelopment again to do it justice.
I’ve always wondered how there could be “an embarrassment of riches,” but these choices are making it clear. So many I haven’t even heard of (exciting), and some I’ve wanted to see for years (drool is beginning to run down my chin), and some I’ve just seen due to the Cup’s choices and availability—The Naked Island last night (starry eyed gratitude). Thanks Risselada and all. Cuba vs Palestine is very cool.
Yeah, i love the similarity in the flags with Cuba v Palestine.
