riss, are you smoking too much god-crack? to get to heaven first you have to die was our first film from tajikistan – have we moved onto the second round without any fanfare? have we really gone through all the countries already? (apart from norway)

Yep, Tajikstan is the first film to have a second film played. Every single country in the cup has now had at least one film announced. So now now it has finally been revealed that there are 83 countries in the cup. There was an odd number of countries so that’s why there is one match where a country (Norway) is playing it’s first film against another country’s (Tajikstan’s) second film. Here’s the full list as a recap:

I posted it anyway with an abridged title. I’ll try to get it fixed.

Seeing the list of countries may now effect how I vote in future matches. As we know the flag and national anthem of the winning country will be added at the end, I am now voting for the country with the least insipid lyrics to their national anthem – not necessarily for the better film. I may listen to the national anthems to see which sounds the best, too, before casting my vote. My Dad was partial to Iceland’s national anthem, so I’m now rooting for them in the Cup.

Disappointed that no film from Mongolia made the cut. I am partial to Mongolian films because they always tend to feature a yak or two – my favorite animals. Too bad…

We need more of these in the Cup!

Ha! Meg & Brad…I NEED that shirt! Am I dating myself by remembering that song???

Continuing with the yacky theme…

For those wanting to investigate some actual Mongolian films (with and maybe without yaks), try this thread:
Top Ten Mongolian Films
I’m still waiting for my favorite Mongolian film to appear in some format: Punsaaj’s Wayward Yak. Saw this at a film festival a few year’s back, but can’t find any trace of it now. It was about a lonely yak herder who starts to imagine the yaks turning into ladies he fancies from his village. Sort of surreal and sad at the same time. Lots of yaks, so that was definitely the attraction, for me.

Normal service on this thread has now been resumed…

I looked up some pics of yaks, they really are adorable, there’s white ones! Love Weeping Camel ♥

Sex with Yaks. Is that what we’re talkin’ here. Jesus, put down the pipe, turn off the Swaziland film festival trailers and get some air. They’re just not that good. I mean if size is all you’re lookin’ at, and that long Axel hair, I guess they’re Okay if your stranded on a steppe, but you folks can do better than that. Honest. Yes, I used to fly to Mongolia for the 15 year old Yaks, in those days you had to elbow the Australian blokes out of the way, but then I found out about lemur sex. Dude and Dudette, we’re speaking some all-time love. But, everyone’s gonna do what they’re gonna do. But, next time you take the flight to Ulaanbaatar to get your horns trimmed, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

ha! since it’s an updated version of anna karenenenenininainininna, very probably.

oh i love that film, it makes me cry buckets. plus there’s a great sex scene. my next favourite sex scene after the one in monteiro’s the last dive.

Hmm another film I’ve watched. I like the Semeben quite a bit. Possibly my favorite from him. I’m trying to get back into playing, possibly soon.
