My God, I can’t believe the WC is almost at match 30. I’ve had to miss literally everything so far due to tons of coursework, plus finals… but hopefully I can start now!

I certainly can’t kick about anything in the Cup, but sometimes I forget how much effort it takes and the participation needed to nominate, find the films, upload them all w/subs, organize, schedule, write about, watch, and do it all as if it’s effortless. I’ve said it before, but again I salute all who are making the Cup alive—especially Riss.
This cup will be longer than baseball season and the Ice Age was shorter than baseball season.

I may get round to a short promotion of Tree in Tanjung Malim, which i’ve mentioned on the boards before, i think. Like Wales’ Sleep Furiously v Belgium, it’s up against an excellent film, though. Sad to see Wales in the low part of the table. Must get round to seeing the Canadian film in time for voting on its current Saraband match
Well, Riss, I thought you wouldn’t pick Miss Julie, as you had pick Saraband for Sweden. So, double shot for Sweden?

Yay more Canadian films!!! Not to be taken as a joke. I’m digging Canada right now.
Les états nordiques is very contemplative and a nice spin on the tradition of direct cinema, which we all got a taste of last year with Michel Brault. As another portrait of a collection of people in a small Québec town, it’ll be an interesting tonal contrast to Les bons débarras.
For diversity’s sake, though, hoping the third film is anglo-Canada (and I don’t mean Cronenberg, Egoyan or Maddin). Québec really could put together its own team with the greatest of ease.
Yes, I’ve noticed that many of the great films I’ve seen from Canada have been from Quebec. So are we to assume that the best films from Canada have been made in Quebec?

Yeah! My first film in the cup; I hope you folks enjoy it! And yeah, I try to push it to Riss that Quebec should participate on it’s own but I don’t think enough people supported the idea. Anyway, Quebec have amazing directors and movies, and so does Canada! The movie should be up in a couple of days.
Uh oh, I seemed to have reached the limit on the number of characters I can use in the official list for the Cup. Looks like I’m using too many tables and graphics and such. I might have to make it look less exciting to fit everything
