Here are the films that would have been used if they had made it to the finals:
Jamaica
Countryman (directed by Dickie Jobson) (1982) – submitted by kuxa kanema
Kazakhstan
Tulpan (directed by Sergei Dvortsevoy) (2008) – Andhika Eka Buana
Can someone give me a link to Countryman
dont want to vote but want to see Jamacia entry
It’s eliminated so it won’t even be competing. I won’t be soliciting for anyone to submit any links, but since kuxa was the one who submitted it you may want to PM him since everyone who submitted had to make a statment assuring that the film was available to watch in some way.
didn’t Jamaica win this week why eliminated?
It didn’t win by a very high percentage of votes, and in it’s first match it got a very low percentage of votes so this still averaged out to a low percentage of votes.
Here’s the current standings:

Phew, 2 brilliant films which i’ve previously championed on mubi, against each other. Terrible to have to vote against either, even more so than the Wales v Belgium match. But at least this is a chance for them both to get time in the limelight- don’t miss this match, folks, it’s a cracker. The Pearl should appeal to lovers of silent surrealism and sexy stockings (count me in), Gamperaliya to fans of Satyajit Ray- it’s a mature elegant drama
That’s funny kenji, because I believe it was because of your appreciation of The Pearl, I watched it, loved it and submitted it. So it’s great to be right up there with you.
Here are the films that would have been used if they had made it to the finals:
Estonia (Soviet Union)

Well, Come On, Smile (directed by Arvo Iho and Leida Laius) (1985) – submitted by Stavrogin
Romania
Microphone Test (directed by Mircea Daneliuc) (1980) – submitted by twodeadmagpies
Undeniably, there are superb films on deck, but it’s sad that we can’t see the ones scheduled to compete by countries which are now eliminated. I want it all.
The point of posting those ones eliminated is to try to still give them exposure so people might to see them later. If you don’t have access to see them maybe when it’s all over we can see about getting you access to the ones that were suggested but didn’t compete that you want to see. I’ll be posting everyone’s lists they submitted at that point too so there will be probably a lot of films you are interested in.

Looking forward to that one, his “Canoa” has been one of the most powerful films I´ve ever seen.
