It was refreshing to have had A Canterbury Tale as the last Powell-Pressburger and, i’ve just noticed, even British (!) film. It’s quirky and has a cut that predated the famous one in 2001. A pity something by Bill Douglas- My Childhood or Comrades- didn’t make it.

As Kenji denies any attempt to promote Spielberg’s latest effort in his war-horse quote, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and spare Sansho this round :)

3 Women – (not even my favorite Altman, certainly not top 20 in my opinion, though Spacek is absolutely brilliant)
The Human Condition – (a grace kill, what a wonderful movie)
Seduction (1929) – not a fan
Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors – watched this in college with some friends, didn’t really dig it. probably would be better if i rewatched it
i missed voting yesterday, but how did The Travelling Players get knocked away so easily?!?!!? another fallen soldier :(
Wow. Kobayashi committed harakiri. Both films went from #4 and #13 to dead last. Any theories as to why? Here’s mine: “Only room enough for one Kobayashi.” I guess being too good hurt his chances.

Giving Mizoguchi and Ray a little break. All throughout the game I’ve tried not to target any one film too vigorously. Every film is somebody’s favourite, after all.
it is a shame about kobayashi. we could have taken a vote on which to save instead of sacrificing both
Ruby, at ton of Harakiri votes came through today. I haven’t done a count, but it looks to be still in the game.
cool, that’s the one i would’ve saved =)
gotta have at least one samurai epic!!!

Harakiri may even be close to being in the lead now, with not many points between top and bottom. It’s very good but I would have slightly preferred Human Condition
