Christopher, as you already know, I admire your work very much. This is a great project and I love that you are taking risks with it and exploring — way to go!
And can’t wait to see the following films! :)
Fascinating! That was great! :)
Thank you again, Jen!!!
And thank you, Douglas :)
I hope you put all these shorts together as a feature-film when you’re finished. I’d proudly buy it on DVD. :)
You crazyman.
Some friends and I were going to do this before I left for my job, but then my job came up. It was exciting to think about, and scary. Godspeed.

Thank you for the support, gents! That’s way cool of you! Totally, Douglas, I’m planning on putting them all on one DVD and submitting to a local fest in LA. It would be incredible to screen them together and I really believe it can contribute to the filmmaking conversation in the sense of why and and how I did it; what did I learn, etc..
I shot #3 yesterday and will be editing today and tomorrow! :)

Can’t wait! :D
sweet, was thinking of attempting something similar
You should really consider it, Clayton – I must say; it has been an incredibly encouraging process so far…

Great results too… I saw on your website that you’re working on a feature, is it your first? How long had you been working on shorts before you tried a full length?
Hey, Clayton. Thanks for checking out the films!
Yes, GIRLFRIEND 19 is my first feature. However, truth be told, it really was similar to most short films in scope of production. It’s filmed primarily in one location with only 4 actors. We shot for 7 days total!
My point is that I kept it very, very simple, and that paid off in many ways.
I had made 3 shorts prior to G19 and felt it was time to tackle something longer. But now, as you know, I’ve gone back to shorts to work on my directorial skill more and it’s been a blast!

I just saw the first 2. I really like the opening shot of the first one and love your use of shadows in the beginning of the second :)
Hey, thanks, @Crazy! I shot Film 5 yesterday and will be posting it on Wednesday. I sure appreciate you checking them out :)
What are the cast members’ names in Film 5! They’re brilliant! :)
Hey, thanks, Douglas! I’m now done! 7 Films Can you believe it?
It really has been a crazy experience and soooooo worth it… Very empowering, to say the least.
And thanks for the compliment regarding the actors in Film 5. They are Shelley Dennis and Susan Denaker – both total pros.
If you’re up to it, it would be awesome if you’d comment on their performances right there on the Film 5 page.
Thanks for the support. I wish more Mubi folks would have commented in this thread. I thought I’d garner more interest than I did. Weird!
Thank again!!!

I was not aware of this, but I will watch all 7 when I have time. Good on you.
AMAZING WORK.
I’d do anything for a DVD with all seven films edited together as one whole film.
SERIOUSLY.
THIS WAS GREAT.
If it were a full feature film, it’d be reserving a spot on my top 10 list for the year, methinks. Just beautiful in every way.
Thank you A!
And I will totally hook you up with a DVD when I do that, Douglas. I seriously appreciate your support and enthusiasm – way, way cool of you!
I’m really eager to screen these somewhere in LA and invite all those who helped me along with friends and family. A couple of these will look awesome on a larger screen and with a nice sound system!
What about the Echo Park Film Center?….
I actually contacted them, Jennifer, actually, to host it for me. They requested that I screen one of my films at one of their open screening nights (next one on October 6th) and take it from there.
You just show up with a film, kind of like an open mic night. I’ll most likely go. You interested?

I would love to see these on a big screen, I’m just not sure about 10/6 will work for me. Do they hold these once a month?
Not sure how often they do it. I think once a month. I’m just showing up with one of my 7; hopefully there will be a cool crowd with some neat people to meet!
Well let me know if you’re going to do it for sure, if I can make it I will be there!
I’m about 90% sure, at this point. I’ll let you know, though – that would be fun…
Yes! :)
Follow My Film
Eager to cultivate my craft and voice as a filmmaker, I initiated a 7 film project: one film per week for seven consecutive weeks.
I began on July 7th, so the first film is complete, which I’d like to share below :) Now I’ve got six more to go!
Thanks,
Christopher
