Jason Biggs (although I think Saving Silverman is funny, mostly because of Steve Zahn)
Chris Elliot (well he is just NOT good as a whole)
Katherin Heigel(sp.?) (i thought Knocked Up was ok but not because of her)
Chris Elliot? He’s hilarious..
i remember when i first saw true lies i said what is that guy from roseanne doing in such a great film :O)
@MULEYHAVEN I once saw some stand up from him and thought it was decent but as far as films go, I don’t think he’s had a great run. He peaked at There’s Something About Mary and that’s just sad.
Katherine Heigl… ughh
Jennifer Aniston… eww
@muleyhaven – Cabin Boy wasn’t art? Damn!
Are we talking about when bad art happens to good people or bad art bad actors?
Joe Pesci would be someone who hasn’t made a good film in fifteen years.
Kate Hudson
Jennifer Lopez
Matthew McConaughey
Adam Sandler
Will Ferrell
Sasha Baron Cohen
VIC
an unassailable list
Vic, I’d only disagree with Jennifer Lopez. Out of Sight was a good film. And she wasn’t awful in it.
Are we talking about bad actors or actors that pick shitty films because I think only Pauly Shore qualifies out of all the people everyone’s listed.
Matt McConaughey was in Lone Star which was quite good IMO. Kate Hudson was in Almost Famous, also good if not great.
These are all subpar actors but many of them have been in good films.
And Adam Sandler has been in Punch-Drunk Love, which at least a good movie.
Sasha Baron Cohen is Borat, so he’s out. Also, Da Ali G Show can be really good at times.
I don’t understand the appeal of Katherine Heigl. Was she okay in Grey’s Anatomy? Never really sat through a whole episode of that show.
She was honestly one of the best things about that show along with Sandra Oh and Isiah Washington. Grey’s Anatomy must be the only show with a main character and actress that almost everyone hates, even fans of the show.
Also, Katherine Heigl is pretty (I think anyway) and has great comic timing. People are just pissed because she called Apatow out on his habit of writing shrewish female leads.
Jennifer Aniston was in office Space or i would say her.
ashton kutcher
This is tough because even someone who seems to appear only in lousy films seems to have some piece of gold in their history (even Lindsay Lohan has Mean Girls and Prairie Home Companion)
Great calls on Ashton Kutcher & Pauly Shore (icky Pauly Shore is pretty low hanging fruit)…but I admit I laughed pretty consistently at Dude, Where’s My Car?
Totally disagree on…
Chris Elliott (Groundhog Day, There’s Something About Mary, and yes, I laughed a lot at Cabin Boy)
Jennifer Aniston was in Office Space, so she’s discounted right there. Sure she’s been in a lot of dog since.
Jennifer Lopez? What about U-Turn, Blood & Wine, Out of Sight, and The Cell? Those are terrific movies…and she really held her own with the likes of Nolte, Penn, Nicholson, Clooney…
Matthew McConaughey was, in addition to Lone Star, also in Dazed & Confused (& giving a terrific performance as that one kid who simply cannot leave high school behind)
What about William Baldwin? Was he in ANYTHING worthwhile? I suppose Internal Affairs?
to assail Vic’s unassailable list:
Kate Hudson – Almost Famous
Jennifer Lopez – The Cell
Matthew McConaughey – Frailty
Adam Sandler – Punch Drunk Love
Will Ferrell – Anchorman
Sasha Baron Cohen – Borat
And yes, Office Space is the only thing between Jennifer Aniston and a perfect record of nothing, but crap movies.
What about U-Turn, Blood & Wine, Out of Sight, and The Cell? Those are terrific movies
Terrific is a “huge” word for some of these…well…fancies…but Lopez sucks in everything she tries to be (singing, acting…“presenting”), so there you go…
Can I suggest Tom Arnold? Oh yeah, I’ve seen him in some shits: True Lies, Nine Months, Big Bully, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave (unfortunately, I’ve seen plenty of shit in my toddler years)
^^Exit Wound wasn’t bad for a Seagal film made in the 00’s though ;-)
I know i’m in a minority here, at least on this site, but i much prefer guys like Ferrell and Sandler when they are acting like retards. I just don’t buy them in dramatic roles. Sandler was good in Punch Drunk Love, but a lot of his character traits are typical ones featured in his retard comedies anyway(e.g ackwardness, aggressive outbursts etc etc).
Dimitris, have you seen these films?
I think TERRIFIC is the most appropriate word for the J Lopez films I mentioned…I didn’t say great or masterpiece or landmark….and Jennifer Lopez did NOT suck in any of those films. In fact, I’d argue that she gave a GREAT performance in U-Turn and a close to great one in Out of Sight.
It’s not like I singled out Enough, Gigli, Maid in Manhattan or Monster-in-Law.
Eve Mendes takes the cake for me, although some of her movies are not that bad. She is horrible, playing a latino version of herself has gotten her pretty far in Hollywood. I’m sure one day she will become the Latino Sandra Bullock and snare an Oscar. I mean Queen Latifah got an Oscar nod and I think she’s at least a half-decent actress.
Well, U-Turn has a sort of demonic feeling and Out of Sight serves a fine vehicle for Soderbergh’s neo-noir sensitivities but…well, OK, surely the films don’t “suck” but Lopez cannot act…she’s just a “hot chick” much like a “hot-looking man” is in the face of a…Matthew McConaughey, the typical “addition” in order to appease the male audience. In no way one will persuade me that Lopez has acting chops. She’s as worthless as her ex-boyfriend Ben Affleck.
I liked Friends with Benefits and The Good Girl with Jen Aniston.
Tom Arnold was in Happy Endings which I liked. I also dig True Lies but I admit to a lack of discerning taste when it comes to Schwarznegger films…
And Will Ferrell gets a lifetime free pass from me for Anchorman which is hilarious.
(Whoops, mis-read the OP).
Julia Ormond.
I mean, I like her as an actress (she’s frequently the best thing in bad movies), but considering she was in both Surveillance & I Know Who Killed Me… yuck.
Jennifer Aniston is pretty great in ‘The Good Girl,’ also. :/
No, Julia Ormond is quite good, she’s just been in some horrific career moves lately.
@Vic, I guess in regards to McCounaughey, you are focusing on the past decade or so (i.e.: movies where he was the STAR). Either that or you just haven’t seen ‘Lone Star’ (oh, it seems as if someone already made mention of this)
Sandra Bullock. Likable woman, but she either has bad taste or is unwillilling to ever take even the slightest risk.
muleyhaven
Pauly Shore
Tom Arnold (I didn’t like True Lies)
Meghan Fox
