I think you should watch them in the order that they were made. I wouldn’t always say this but for those 3 movies it seems like a great trip through Fellini’s magical evolution.
Not to mention that such a journey takes you from a film about one specific person, to a film about an entire city to a film about society in its entirety.
Thanks I just put 8 1/2 in the DVD player.
Roma, 8 1/2 topped with And the Ship Sails on….. Enjoy!
Follow that with Fellini Satyricon, Amarcord, and finish with La Strada!
Track down La Dolce Vita and see that one if you can. It’s more than three hours, and if you’re spending the day viewing movies, then that one’s essential. That and 8 1/2 and La Strada are the three toppers.
Well if you only have those 3, then I agree with Luis. And the Ship Sails On is a great one to finish with!
Get a copy of La Dolce Vita. It is Fellini’s best work, and possibly the greatest film ever made.
8 1/2
La Dolce Vita
Roma
Hahaha I have La Dolce Vita but I have never seen Roma or And the Ship Sails On so I wanted to watch those. I threw in 8 1/2 because it is my favorite Fellini. I also love La Dolce Vita, La Strada, Amarcord, and I Vitelloni! I just watched 8 1/2. Damn it gets better every time if thats even possible. I’m about to watch Roma.
You can skip AND THE SHIP SAILS ON, it isn’t terribly interesting. Go for SATYRICON or NIGHTS OF CABIRIA or I VITELLONI, or even THE CLOWNS.
I just adore Nico in La Dolce Vita — she’s so crazy! When she appears in the suit of armor and says, “I’m your ahn-cess-tore.”
Why skip And the Ship Sails On, Roscoe? It’s not the greatest Fellini, true – but I’d say it’s quite interesting.
I only got to 8 1/2 and Roma. The damn nonfiction people got in the way of the fictional people. I plan on watching And the Ship Sails On later this week.

Since I have nothing to do today I think I’m going to have a Fellini triple feature. I have And the Ship Sails On and Roma both which I haven’t seen before and I also want to watch 8 1/2 because its one of my favorites and I haven’t seen it in a long time. So what order should I watch them in?
