21, working on a Film Degree.
SHOCKER, I know.
I’m 22, British and have a BA in English. Currently living in London and saving money for a MA in Creative Writing. Ideally in New York at Columbia or The New School if I could afford it.
I’m 33. soon to be 34. high school diploma. barely. skipped film school. went straight to film-making.
Saving up for a Creative Writing MFA but probably doing Peace Corps first. BA in Psychology and Creative Writing. I’m 26.
I’m too damned old to hang with you kids, so let’s just leave numbers out of it. On paper, I have a B.A. in journalism . . . but I’m learning enough from all of you to get major credit toward a master’s.
1rst year for a BA in Modern Languages (English-Spanish) for a gap year and hoping to do Politics the next year for a BA! I have the impression of being the only bookworm, serious moviegoer in my class. I’m 19. Some friends always ask me why I don’t choose Movie Studies but I guess that I would be bored if I only did movies, movies, movies! I mean, they’re my passion, but I don’t want to consider it as a job, although I know I have a lot of things to know!
21, in college working on a B.A. in English (although I was originally an Art History major, and I even dabbled in French for a bit)
16 (as of last week). Junior in high school.
I’m young..(compared to most of you) Feel like a little kid haha
14 and a freshman in high school here. I thought that this place would have quite a few people my age, but I guess I was wrong on that. Then again, nobody else I know really appreciates film that much so I guess that explains it.
Baxter, I have been looking through this thread and there are some ppl your age. The young shouldn’t feel bad and neither should the old. We’re a film community and can learn from each other. It’s all good.
Well I did see a few people my age yes, but I thought there’d be more than a handful. Still as you said, its all good, as honestly I don’t care how old anybody is.
Welcome to the forums Baxter, glad to see you’re not really worried about age as you really shouldn’t be.
Strong, informed opinion almost never correlates to age though some people tend to think so :)
22, just finished my BA in english lit. now what?
22, just finished my BA in english lit. now what?
23 went to film school. I love film’s and will continue to make them forever weather I make money with it or not. I am now going back to school to be a history teacher as well.
36, MFA in Creative Writing, BA from the Evergreen State College that I’m calling a degree in Creative Writing
Miranda, I think you should either teach or write a book or both. Is there other stuff to do with an English lit. degree?
30, MS in Information Architecture almost complete. Will allow me to reboot my day job to something that actually interests me.
I’m 28. I have a BA in Literature.
21 with one year to go before im done with my Llb
43, Professor of Film.
History and analysis, mostly.
I grew up somewhat connected to the New York film community. Knew a lot of those folks and loved them.
19, Sophomore in college and working on an English and Chinese double major. My school doesn’t offer any film major, otherwise I’d be all over that in a second. Though I do grab as many film studies classes as possible for my English requirements.
34, got MLS (masters library science) 8/07 from IU-indianapolis. i have a BA in English and an A.A. in liberal arts.
looking into getting another masters. someday, maybe, a PHD
28, BA in English & Sociology-somehow managed to snag a gig in tv production for awhile—but my favourite work was done from the ages of 16-20 in an art house cinema & video store simultaneously…there was no money in it, but it was the best education in film I could have asked for—being young, suffering from insomnia, and packing in as many films as possible…it was pretty close to perfect.
as of little more than a month ago, eighteen and in my third attempt of college. if i don’t decide to move across the country on a whim again, i’m thinking strongly of pursuing linguistics or perhaps film. or english literature and philosophy, if i’m feeling particularly impractical.
36 MFA in creative writing
Well, I hate to say it, but it appears I’m the oldest in the group—55—56 in March. I’ve been a philosophy “professor” at Washington U at St. Louis and Dickinson U in PA. I saw no future in being in the Gypsy class and reluctantly went to get yet another graduate degree, this time a J.D. in law and now I’m in the business of trying and restore democracy in the work place—what better place for it to be. I’ve always loved films and spent many a year in film studies and aesthetics (philosophy). I fear this humanistic bent in my life may be under attack and possibly destroyed today because of the political and economic attacks of late. I hope film will survive and keep the lessons alive.
I’m 18, high school drop out as from May 2008.
25. Never went to college.
Shotzi
27, two and a half years worth of credits at a state school. Dropped out due to obscene self-hatred and contempt for the world (my girlfriend dumped me). Declared my 20s a wash, have been doing basically nothing since. Work at a shitty job for a while, play in a shitty band for a while, find somewhere weird to go, go there for a while, come back broke, work shitty job for a while, play in a shitty band, etc… Within the past year or two I decided to unwash my 20s, though. I’m ready to try and finish up school and become one of those high school English teachers who makes all his students laugh by making surprisingly modern pop culture references that I think make me cool but make the students think I’m really lame. Patches on my elbows and whatnot. I will strongly consider grad school for film studies, a degree that is most likely worthless (sorry) but, still, the only degree that I’ve ever desperately wanted even since I was a young kid. Maybe I could write some dope ass theories or some shit. I’m going to make film studies a threat again! Ha.
So, yeah. I’m 27 and a college dropout. Women adore me.
