Josh: Aren’t most liberal arts degrees? I’m a firm believer in the arcane and useless though for what it’s worth.
Ari: Yep, they pretty much are.
‘I’m a firm believer in the arcane and useless though for what it’s worth.’ Here, here! Useful things are completely overrated.
Yea Josh i have a few friends that I work with who also enjoy film and the process of making films. Weve done a few short films and one we entered into a 24 hour film festival. Im working on an idea about a funeral director who kills people for business…you can steal it if you want haha im not planning on entering it at Sundance or anything…
33, minor in film and major in art history. Very interesting people on this site
Oh yeah and I studied literature but never finished
Sekzee: I think it’s a bit morbid for my tastes. ;) It’s definitely must help to have friends interested in film too; for acting, camerawork, suggestions, etc.
haha its more of a dark comedy! but yes your def right it helps to have friends that can offer their individual talent and suggestions to each film.
40, BA in journalism, masters in comparitive literature,
Old, and stupid.
Which one of those did you major in, Zero?
21 “film studies” major. I completed all the majors requirements in two years, had no idea what to do after that (another major!?) so I dropped out. Now working on becoming a director and/or cinematographer, like sekzee I’ve got a production crew of friends to work with. we’re ramping up production in the fall… a couple of short films.
Double major.
17. One year left of High School. Seems pointless at this point and wish I was a college freshman and not a high school senior. I really love film and my dream is to have a career in it, so film production may be a nice route for me, either that or an English major.
BA in Film Production
28, BA in English Literature, followed by a year and a half of intense film watching and reading film books.
I’m 19 and working on my B.A. and I have no idea what to study in grad. school! My B.A. will be in Social Science so that leaves it wide open, but I can’t decide what I want to do! Aaagh!
Max Hirtz is 20, has wasted two years at a couple of different colleges, and is now excited to enter a Journalism program.
24, history BA, glad everyone here seems as lost as me.
Karen: A 22 year old on her way to get her masters in psychology
Joe: A 23 year old English Literature major and organic farm worker (which is far more educational).
Apologies if this thread was better off dead ten months ago. Were new here.
32 BA philosophy
20. One year of Sociology, Two years of Psychology, Three Years of English & Film. Currently on haitus from the whole university scene, trying to figure out which path I actually want to pursue. As you can tell, I am a master decision maker…
Sorry, just to edit that last post: It should be WE’RE new here, not “WERE new here”. Kind of embarrassing since I just told everyone that I was an English major.
28, Advertising major, musician.
35. BA in literature, Master’s in Education.
Old M.S. Retired
Oy, 36, went to college to focus on film with Philosophy on the peripheral, but two things happened, A) I remembered I never liked school, and B) I needed to make some money. A degree would be nice, especially in this economy, but I have worked as a reporter/copy editor and as a commercial director/producer, but my skills mean nothing with that piece of paper.
24, BA in art history + philosophy.
53, Sergeant Major, belligerent
22, BS in Electronics.
Black Irish
Sekzee: ‘and spending my free time writing and making movies!’
Livin’ the dream. Got anything particular in mind, not that I wanna steal your ideas or anything . . .
