The film’s website.
$100 is pretty steep for an unknown quality. $25, yeah I go for it. .I never held his films it all that high a regard tho El Topo was worth ones time if too mired in the hippy thing. Wonder what happened to Brontes? I think JA said he regretted exposing him like he did but it did give the film a sacred character in a way. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
$100 is the suggested/preset ‘donation’. I tried entering $20 just to see and it went to cart. But I’m blind or something, I’m not seeing on the site where it sez whether that donation gets you the special edition DVD, or helps pay for its printing or something… It’s set up in a way that makes it look like you’re paying for the DVD, but no actual text determines what transaction you’re making…….
Anyway I don’t even really like Jodorowsky so I’m not overly concerned with acquiring this movie, I just wanted to see if he was going the Lav Diaz route by making epicly long movies (we’re talking, longer than his already way too long movies long) and charging $100 for them. I’m not a fan of spending more than $20 for any movie, but I understand where Diaz is coming from and it is a more interesting alternative format of distribution than the traditional theatrical + home video presentation.
OK so I plunged for $20. AJ made a mistake in having the 100 amount shown as it could have scared off some viewers. Looking elsewhere I found a place where he is asking $1 from 580,000 fans for the film. I can understand his approach as getting distribution of a foreign film in the US is not easy I have read so making an appeal like this will by pass that obstacle. If he doesn’t finish the film will I get my money back?
I hoped this was King Shot. It isn’t. I don’t care anymore, and I certainly don’t care $100 worth.
Got my $20 back with this message:
Thank you for the support you gave us to finish this film. You will receive an email to confirm your name which rage in the end credits. Without your faith would not have made this beautiful work. You can get the DVD at a price less than 100 USD when completed. Thanks, AJ and XG
