Alexander Nevsky DVD with newly recorded score?

A friend told me that there would soon be a new release on DVD of Alexander Nevsky with a Prokofiev score newly recorded. I recently purchased the Criterion Eisenstein: The Sound Years and the score has the same wretched sound I remember from years ago.

Anyone have information on this?

Thanks,

I have no info about this but it seems unlikely. You can always buy a CD of the music. Usually a CD will only have the suite, rather than the complete score. There may be a CD of the complete score – you could check it.

Thanks, Arcanus. I do indeed have a copy of the score on CD and it is the suite. About 10 years ago I was able to perform in a showing of the film at the University of Chicago which had the score deleted from the film and supplied by live chorus and orchestra. Everyone said that hearing the score as it was meant to be heard was overwhelming.

I want to show Nevsky to my monthly film group and hoped that a restored score would be available. Oh, well. Maybe I will show Ivan the Terrible instead.
