HA HA HA so wait — now it’s about onscreen couples, part of whom includes a being of another species??
In that case, let me contribute this:

Speaking of old men and their pets, there’s this from one of the most depressing movies I’ve ever seen:

And Elizabeth Taylor and her horses…

HA HA HA HA I’m waiting for HOOCH.
Pancho Villa and his horses.

That horse was really shot from underneath him.

^ classic. :)

Made for each other-

I vote Dickinson and Wayne as the best Hawks couple—even better that Grant and Russell….and Grant and Arthur….and Grant and Hepburn….. Most of Hawk’s couples only connect with each other in childish/flirtatious modes of expression— rarely ever do they get as romantic as Feathers and Chance do. This may be the most intimate and adult couple he ever directed.

McCrea and Colbert in The Palm Beach Story.Almost all of Sturges’ film have great couples.

DFFOO — It’s from Truffaut’s Bed and Board. The relationship started in the previous movie though, Stolen Kisses. And they don’t end up happily, but they had something going for a while…
