george roy hill is a hack…the whole film is an uneven, mishmashed mess.
The Bolivian music scene is the only flaw in an otherwise beautiful fable. It sounds like some glee club singers were at a lose end the day Burt scored it.
George Roy Hill a hack? not top tier I’ll aver, but no hack could have made Slaughterhouse Five…. and I’ll defer to Vonnegut’s opinion of it before anyone else’s.
George Roy Hill a hack? Maybe Sundance Kid is a bit overatted, but The Sting is great.
Sundance Kid is great. The problem is people approach it all wrong. They aren’t getting a serious western; the humour, the score, the story…it’s not typical western fare but that’s okay because it’s not your typical western
Yeah, I dislike a lot of the music in that film—“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” is just awful.

Precisely. It’s BECAUSE it’s a msih-,ash mess that it’s so much fun.
(Though Bacharach’s score – which won an Oscar – can’t hold a candle to his CASINO ROYALE.)
Alonso Díaz de la Vega
… to hate Bacharach’s musical score? Well, not hated, but I disliked certain parts of it, the Bolivian musical interlude to be more precise. Oh, and another thing, I also disliked the bycicle scene, but don’t get me wrong, other than those little details, I love this film.
