by “Andrei Rublev Remake” do you mean “The Road”?

I always thought the two actors had a weirdly striking resemblance. I think it’s the cheekbones and eyes.

And that remake would never happen. Thank god. Tarkovsky’s films are remake proof: the subject matter is usually too confusing and “boring” to approach.

I thought Soderbergh’s Solaris was great. Doesn’t touch Tarkovsky’s though :)

I thought of that too, but that’s not really supposed to be a “remake” of Tarkovsky’s film, even if it was influenced by it (they supposedly went off the source material). Tarkovsky always alters the source material and presents his own themes and concerns. He transforms the writing.

I never read the original novel, but the author hated both movie versions, and said they were both just “love stories in space”. I can’t speak for Soderberg’s version, but I’d say he missed the point of Tarkovsky’s version.

Glad somebody else noticed the Jeff Bridges thing too.

Through the whole movie I kept thinking JEFF BRIDGES AND VIGGO MORTENSON

Also the actor who played the twin princes reminds me a lot of Tarkovsky himself.
