Well that is sad…
Thanks for that share, I recall it brought a tear to my eye at the time, that scene. I was just watching him the other night in Criminal Justice with Ben Whishaw
RIP Pete
and another
my heart goes out to his family
I just saw him in a Sophia Loren film and he stole the show!
rest in peace
and he was excellent recently in the town with ben affleck :O)
RIP.
I had no idea he was ill.
My family and I were just discussing him the other night (well, early new years day, after watching The Town), talking about all the films we had seen him in. He was an incredible actor.
Quite good. A lot prefer his performance in In the Name of the Father, but I liked his ‘Mr. Kobayashi’ in The Usual Suspects.
San news indeed. Good films as you point out CHRISTOPHER, he had an unusualness about him that gave his performances a sense of something else going on behind his ‘lines’ and while I’m not a big fan of The Town, hated it actually for a myriad of reasons better suited in discussions elsewhere, I’m sure his talents as an actor and as a man will be missed.
Great mug, even better actor.
RIP
…
Postlewaite as Lear:
very sinister in THE TOWN
That is a surprise- it wasn’t long ago i saw him in Ludlow, England
I just watched in the name of the father. I’ve always wondered why he took roles of old men dying.
I just rewatched “In The Name Of The Father” after hearing
very sad, RIP
I didn’t know he did Lear – very versatile, he was pretty convincing as the violent father in Distant Voices, Stil Lives!
He was really good in Suite 16 too.
shame. he wasn’t even that old
…
one of the best actors ever. never dissapointed by a performance should’ve won the oscar for “in the name of the father”.
Uli Cain, Cinefidel¹³
A perfect character actor, and someone I loved to watch.
Below is one of his best scenes and just a small example of how good he was.
