I’m going to the screening of the Charlie Kaufman-flavored “Cold Souls” starring Paul Giamatti on the 27th. Looking forward to that!

Does anyone have any suggestions for which films to see, and if those films still have tickets available?
I saw Still Walking at another film festival. Skip it if you are not an Ozu fan.
Lucky, lucky, lucky people. I’m gonna rent L’Intrus tomorrow. NEH made me sad.
(aside: who doesn’t like Ozu?)
Drew – Check the website for listings of all films and what is still available. Individual tickets became available nearly a month ago so there might not be much left.

NEH- You’re attending the same screening of 35 Rhums? We should meet, I’d love to talk about the film with you. EDIT: Ah shit, I just realized that the Los Bastardos screening is right after. Anyway, say hello if you see a thin Filipino guy reading Beckett’s Three Novels.
I echo Josh—who doesn’t like Ozu? And it’s too late, I already bought the ticket, mwahaha.
Drew, I bought my tickets last Thursday and as you may have noticed, all the films I’m going to see are the slow, contemplative kind, and they don’t tend to draw in the crowds, so tickets should still be available. And if you have the stamina—Crude Oil is free.
It kind of sucks that Miyazaki-san’s Ponyo is the closer and tickets are only available to pass holders…that would’ve put me one up on Filmy Andy for sure!
I might be going for 35 Shots of Rum on Tues!
Cool, Lio, hope to see you there.
Carlo, Ya I would want to go to a lesser know, slow, contemplative film, but my problem is I don’t know which should be top priorities. Any suggestions?
Are you watching all of Crude Oil?
35 Rhums would be the top of my list of screenings, it’s made by one of my favorite auteurs, Claire Denis. And yes, I do plan to see Crude Oil in its entirety, and I will make sure I get plenty of sleep the night before!
Other films you might be interested in (that I just don’t have time to see) are United Red Army, which is reviewed by Daniel Kasman here, Turistas (not to be mixed up with the torture porn film), and Musica Nocturna.
One day, when I drive, I will be able to see 14 hour documentaries in theatres.
It sounds very intriguing. Have you heard anything from people who have seen it?
35 Rhums still has tickets available! I will try to go, thanks for the suggestion.
Ah, I can’t visit this thread anymore. I knew there was a reason I never looked at the Cannes thread.
I will be at the Crude Oil screenings. Hope to see you there.
Carlo, you homesick alien, you can’t beat me at Miyazaki … there. I feel sorry for you man, I think Pixar/Dreamworks people gobbled up all the seats/passes for Ponyo and let me know what comes out of Crude Oil….
@Kalvin, great! See my profile picture? That’s what I look like. See you there.
@Filmy Andy, we’ll see my friend, we’ll see. I may still be able to pull of a miracle. <‘,))( Sure, I’ll let you know, I’m expecting nothing less than life-changing. Hahaha.
I can’t believe my previous post was my 300th one…I keep missing each century! Oh well, on to 400…
So you’re at 301? Damn I’ve been on this profile a week and a half and I’m over 350.

Hi Everyone!
The LA Film Fest starts tonight and if anybody’s attending, please post here on this thread. Post the screening you’re attending and maybe other users are attending the same screening, a good opportunity to meet people from this site and talk about the film you just saw.
I will be at the screenings for:
‘Still Walking (Aruitemo, aru’ on Mon, Jun 22 @7:00pm, Regent Theatre
‘35 Shots of Rum (35 rhums)’ on Tue, Jun 23 @7:00pm, Regent Theatre
‘Los Bastardos’ on Tue, Jun 23 @9:45pm, Regent Theatre
Crude Oil Part 1 on Fri, 26 @ 11:30am, Hammer Museum Gallery 6
Crude Oil Part 2 on Sat @ 11:30am, Hammer Museum Gallery 6
I seem to be stuck in one theater aside from the Crude Oil screening, the Regent is a nice theater, though. Crude Oil, by the way is a 14 hour documentary. They’ve divided it over two days and both screenings are free.
