There are a lot of hard-to-catch short films there. Not so long ago I watched “Ballet Mécanique” an experimental silent movie and “Film- by Samuel Beckett” in which an old Buster Keaton tries to escape from the camera during 20 minutes with no dialogues. Both of them masterpieces, check them out.

Because “you don’t need music to wrestle. You need balls! Big ones!”

Lots of whole Herzogs I need to watch too.

Since we’re on the subject of “free viewing”, I use torrents as a source for my viewing pleasure. I’ve found many many classics as well as of course modern films. You can find almost anything, I have hundreds of DVDs of films I’ve downloaded. Of course, I purchase the films I think are great because I firmly believe in supporting an artist that acquires my appreciation, but there’s so many I have to save up the money first, heh. Anyone have an extra $2k to help me narrow down the list?

I just watched FILMING OTHELLO for the first time. There’s some benefit to Youtube, since I don’t think that films been released ever, has it?

I love youtube for things like Kubrick’s Fear and Desire. But for widely available films I would much rather wait till I have money to buy it then watch it on youtube. Still I watch films that have no DVD release on youtube, which is nice that there is a way to see them.

Night of the Bloody Apes & Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (actually on Google Video rather than Youtube).

You can actually see “The Crowd” on youtube, which is great because it does not have a proper DVD release. The disadvantage is that it’s divided up into 11 parts (I think). I’d rather track down a VHS copy.

“Vacation from Marriage” (1945). Original (and much better) British title: “Perfect Strangers” – a romantic comedy set in WW2, starring Robert Donat and Deborah Kerr . Two half-alive types married to each other are separated by the war and transformed by their war service.

You can find it on YouTube by searching for “Vacation from Marriage.” (It was retitled “Vacation from Marriage” for the US market.)

(Don’t confuse it with the Lucille Ball comedy.)
