Potato is probably going to win the Criterion Staff vote and that one where some teenagers pretend to be drunk and dress up in drag will win the YouTube Community vote.
I gave up on Criterion’s contests long ago. Winning them is like trying to win the Lotto jackpot.
I would like to participate but I really doubt I could win something because I live in Quebec.

I just submitted my video last night. Looking at the clip that Criterion offered as an example I thought “this must be easy to improve upon”. My major creative touch was incorporating animals into the video. Animals always seem to improve a shot:

So far the videos that have REALLY impressed me are:

Potato by hihuy3:

I would have to say that this is the most creative out of all of them. I would have never though of filming the whole thing from the point of view of the potato.
Some others that were amusing:

(short but sweet)

The acting in this one is quite impressive. I like how the filmmaker took liberties with the theme of the contest, and made it a portrait of a sad individual.

I like the photography in this one. It really brings out the texture and simmer of the cutlets. You almost want to reach into the screen and take a bite of them.
