are there any databases with film soundtracks free to use?

im looking for make a short film and would very much just prefer to find soundtracks or simply sounds online free to use. anyone?

I do not believe such a database exists. You can Google songs in the Public Domain for music that you can use without fear of a lawsuit though.

There’s a ton of options out there. You can use pre-existing royalty free music (though you may pay a slight amount to download it one time, depends on the site) or you can use the pre-made ‘music’ on imovie or you can create your own on garageband (provided you’re on a mac and have the resources/patience to do so). Alternately you could reach out via craigslist or soundcloud or vimeo. There are plenty of aspiring musicians who are willing to either donate their music or collaborate you just have to find them. I put out a request on Vimeo for a recent project and received multiple replies from very able musicians. Good luck!
