Cinema has lost a truly, great underrated talent in Arthur Penn, whose best-known movies BONNIE AND CLYDE, ALICE’S RESTAURANT, LITTLE BIG MAN and NIGHT MOVES captured the tension and themes of Vietnam-era America. Like Sam Peckinpah, he was a poet of screen violence and a humanist to the eccentric, misunderstood characters that became dwarfed by the society they were in conflict with. He was great director that will truly be missed.
