I hope people show up to watch and talk about movies with you. That would be nice to talk about film in a group who likes film or the watched movie. Unfortunately, I don’t live anywhere near Atlanta, and the only films they show around here are family films at the local library twice a month.
bump – I’m sure there are at least some lurkers in Atlanta!
I’m up in Alpharetta and would be interested though with my schedule, probably couldn’t make it work, I work until 11 at night. Nonetheless, its a great idea and if it worked I’d be interested.
I went to college in Atlanta. I miss it. If I were still down there, I’d totally be in. But I might move back eventually, so who knows?
I’m from Atlanta
but I go to school in New Orleans
fuck
I live just twenty minutes from Sandy Springs. I’ll bring libations if you’ll supply the herbs.

Drunken Father Figure of Old
I always feel really annoyed that I can never find exciting film events in Atlanta. So, with the help of my fellow Atlantan Mubians, I would like to change that!
My idea is that it would be pretty much like a book club for movies. We could meet once a week (or once a month) to watch a movie and then talk about it. Members would take turns picking the movie they want, and could pick anything they want – from B-horror to Jeanne Dielman and (hopefully) everything in between. The person who picked the movie will outline a few topics for discussion afterward, and we can then discuss anything else. Ideally, it would be like a true cinemateque experience: You go, watch a great movie, and meet some people who want to talk about it!
Once I’ve seen how many people (if any) are interested, we can start working out details of where and when. For now, I’m willing to host events at my apartment in Sandy Springs (just north of Atlanta). I’ve got a fairly nice (720p) projector, but a fairly small apartment, so we’ll have to see how many people are interested.
So my question is: How many of you are in the Atlanta area? And how many of you Atlantans would like to do something like this? Has anybody in other areas done anything like this, and do you have any advice for us/me?
