Reservoir Dogs by far. We take Tarantinoesque dialogue for granted now, but at the time, it was audacious to open an action movie with an extended conversation piece. Its perfect balance of violence and humor made it a small character film seem epic. The other two are good, but just don’t pack the power of Dogs.
Couldn’t be more true about taking Tarantino’s writing for granted. Inglorious Basterd’s should have won an oscar hands down, but oh well, he’s not the kind of Director or person who needs that sort of recognition in order to be a great director.
is donnie darko director’s cut good?
The Directors Cut is the only one ive seen, and it is simply amazing.
the old version was amazing :O)
i am going 2 watch the directors cut… maybe on it’s 53rd anniversary
How could I possibly choose? Great movies. I’ll put in a vote for other debut films from first time directors: THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION! yes? I think that takes the cake boy-o
i’ll take Reservoir Dogs over Darko anyday. watching Donnie Darko felt like getting barfed on.

FILM BATTLE OF THE DAY
DIRECTOR’s First Full Length Films
Quentin Tarintino’s Reservoir Dogs VS Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko VS Neil Blomkamp’s District 9
My vote goes to Donnie Darko, first “independent, artsy” film I ever saw, blew me away and was the gateway for my film obsession
