Bela Tarr's last film

I hope it’s not as ordinary as Man From London was, I can’t wait to see this film. It’d better not be his last either! Satantango 2 mother fuckers ;)

Does anyone else know of any articles related to The Turin Horse aside from Unspoken Cinema blog’s post about it being complete? Haven’t really heard much talk about it except that Tarr spoke of it when The Man From London was released, and him saying it will be his last. Since then the climate of film funding in Hungary has changed, so he may have decided to continue creating instead of filling a producer role.

Satantango 2: Still Tangoin’. It should be 14 hours long!

Tarr was in Czech republic this summer and he spoke a little bit about his plans to the future. So – The Turin Horse is propably his last movie and he is going out of bussiness after that. BUT he said that it doesnt mean that he never ever make a movie since that. He said that if he find in future (years, maybe dacade) some interesting and NEW topic – he could go back to directing – and immediately added that this is a very small chance to go back. He said there is nothing more that he wants to say and making some next film would be totally pointless for him (and i think that he deserves respect for that – he is one of a few directors who have an moral authority and when he says “its done” it realy means “its finish”).
Meanwhile he is ready to find an ordinary job as any other person and not to be involved in movie production. This is what he was saying in july 2010.

Now, according to this amazing news he has propably one ambitious plan for few next years :

(but seems to me that this is a very utopic vision)

Wow, very interesting news article! I am sad that he will be retiring, but at least he will be going out on top. Hopefully after a few years off he will have something to say.

Press conference, Bela Tarr on Turin Horse from the Berlin Film Festival you have to click the bit that says press conference at the bottom, I couldn’t get a direct link to it. Takes a while to get going, might want to skip 9 or 10 minutes
