Track down a low budget indie film called Blood Car. You won’t be dissapointed.

Dr. Strangelove
In the Company of Men
American Psycho
Network
The Squid and the Whale?
In the Loop

Blood Car?
I recently posted that Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia was the coolest film title I knew of. Blood Car? Pretty freakin’ cool title. 2007 USA right? I will look out for it.

I am partial to polyester but water’s color design and spirited performances make it hard to classify as dark comedy

@Bostonluna yes i’ve seen it, but my favorites are the two listed up there.

And i forgot to say : ALMOST ALL QUENTIN TARANTINO’S MOVIES ! (including indeed inglorious basterds)
and Zatoichi (2003) Takeshi Kitano

it’s not really dark, but i always found The Graduate to be quality dry humor.
Festen (dir. Thomas Vinterberg) is pretty grim and funny in some weird sense

I believe that ‘’Dark Comedy’’ in the cinema of art is the most crucial segment. There is a long pause for 1 year. The first at all, we have to change this. My fav. film dir. are Coen Brothers. All their films. Informing similar film directors with few works instead of one will be appreciated.

“What is Blood Car about?”

Since this was never answered, it’s a movie about a car that runs off of alternative fuel. That alternative fuel is, of course, blood. Social satire awaits!

Some of these choices are weird for “dark comedy.”

To me a classic is Scorsese’s After Hours:

After Hours is orgasmic, I don’t care what the Scorsese-naysayers spout off about.

People always say Satantango is a black comedy. Sadness, endless sadness. Yeah, pretty funny (Oh my god, have I missed the point of my favourite film of all time?).

What problems do people have with After Hours? I think it’s hilarious. That scene where Teri Garr keeps messing him up when he’s trying to make a phone call by saying random numbers out loud, and all the mousetraps around her bed, when Rosanna Arquette is looking at the book about burns and skin afflictions… it’s all a ridiculous but frightening nightmare for a yuppy stuck in SoHo late at night. What’s not to like?
