@Harry Long What I meant was that he has too many hits in my mind. I love Spielberg. It was hard to narrow my favorites down. I could give a shit about your or the public’s opinion, tbqh. I was merely making a list of what I like.

Thanks to whoever picked up Reiner and went with CARL…He directed several really good films, and (for my money) three comic masterpieces: Where’s Poppa; The Jerk: The Man with Two Brains.

It’s interesting how every single one of Jarmusch’s films have been mentioned in this thread (excepts The Limits of Control and Year of the House but the former has just been released and the later isn’t much of a film anyway, so those are acceptable. Is Permanent Vacation counted? Those at Cannes considered Stranger Than Paradise to be his debut film.).

I am going to just draw the conclusion that Jim Jarmusch consistently makes great films.

Cassavettes, Hollywood? Wes Anderson (Bottle Rocket & Rushmore were very independent movies)? Glups…… JARMUSCH?! My list is a bit ironic, since many of this directos have worked with low budgets and zero promotion and I choose the best of those movies that were on cinemas everywhere.

Mann – Collateral
Gilliam – 12 monkeys
Fincher – Zodiac
Scorsese – Goodfellas
Coppola – The Conversation
De Palma – Obsession
Tarantino – Jackie Brown
Coens – The Hudsucker Proxy

Demme – Crazy Mama (or Neil Young: Heart of Gold)
Cassavetes – A woman under influence
Reiner – This is spinal tap
Penny Marshall – Big
Eastwood – Bird
Cameron – True Lies (could be some moments of Aliens and even Titanic)
Wes Anderson – The Royal Tenenbaums
Jarmusch – Broken Flowers
Bay – The Rock
D.G. Green – Pineapple Express
Huston – Dubliners
Ivan Reitman – Ghostbusters
Lumet – Network
Burton – Mars Attacks!
