whats it about? is it good horror or cheap horror exploitation made on a shoestring of a budget?
oh no it is really great horror, it is one of those movies that prepares you through out the entire movie and psychologically attacks you trough out the entire movie.. David Lynch ha taking a lot of his approach , obviously making his own style but he has influenced many of the great horror films.. with that said it’s about this girl, who is in a girls college who starts seeing a tower in his dreams which she explores with his friends and soon after she comes up dead in that tower and that is part of the mystery and suspense..
I’ve never heard of this one but I am forever searching for decent horror films. Thanks Aaron for the recommendation, I’ll be sure to seek this out.
It is really hard to find.. but got a copy on amazon for 2 dollars, man was that a steal… he has three movies that are like the cornerstone of horror in mexico, even though it is not a very busy industry never the less in the horror genre, but he has
Más negro que la noche (1975)
… aka Blacker Than the Night (Europe: English title)
Hasta el viento tiene miedo (1968)
El libro de piedra (1969)
… aka The Book of Stone (USA: literal English title)
if you can get your hands on one of those three, you will search for the other two i will guarantee you that…
here is the beginning of the movie

the entire movie is there in parts but, it has no subtitles…
I love Vampyr and Dawn of the Dead!!!!!
The original Night of the Living Dead is the scariest movie I know. Something about the encroaching sense of dread and the utter hopelessness of it get me every time.
As far as the best horror film, though, I’d have to go with Rosemary’s Baby. It’s so well made that I can partially overlook the fact that it’s not especially scary.
Haute Tension
Thesis
Hellraiser
Quién puede matar a un niño?
I don’t think Aaron’s asking us to list our fav. horror films; he’s saying ‘Hasta el Viento Tiene Miedo’ IS the best horror film ever.
Saw it on tv (around 1972) and cant remember a thing about it. But the title made me think it was a comedy…
The next day all my sixth grade classmates were talking about it!
That’s how I took it, Ganselmi. (Gotta wonder sometimes if people actually read the posts in a thread before they chime in.)
I have never heard of this director, but I’m going to have to try to track down some of his stuff. It sounds intriguing.
Amazon.com seems to have all 4 of his films.
Veneno para las hadas (also from Taboada) is another very disturbing movie about two girls and whitchery. And the “Peanuts’ concept” of not showing adult faces really adds a dark feeling to it.
Frankenstein
The Shining (one of my all time favorite films, not really horror, but deeply unsettling)
The Mist was surprisingly entertaining… not really straight up horror, more like gross out sci-fi
I also really enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead re-make….. unlike many hardcore fanboys.
and thats about it…. horror aint really my cup o’ tea…. I get enough scares and frights from crazy ex-gfs and tax collectors tracking my every move (..I kid…?)
WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah i mean there are a lot of great horror films, it’s just that this movie has something that just gives me the creeps, i mean, who knows what the best horror film but for me it’s that one, it has everything i want in a horror film. not to mention a strip tease in the movie, pretty cool for 68’, and you actually care for the characters.. to me that’s important, you really care for them… but yeah you guys should watch him, he produced a horror show in mexico, called hora marcada (the marked hour), and wrote a lot of stuff for another show called La Telaraña(spiderweb).. Guillermo del Toro came out from the first show I mentioned.. ok i’ll stop haha, i just like his movies that’s all…

As a fan of horror films i have to say that Mexican director Carlos Enrique Taboada made some of the most memorable and influential horror films of all time..
“Hasta el Viento Tiene Miedo”(1968)..(even the wind is afraid) for me is the best horror film ever..
if you have never seen it, you should look for a copy, it is an amazing film..notice i put 1968.. don’t get the re-make…
