I’ll start it off…

Well first off, you could start by spelling “charector” correctly. I think in English it’s orthographed more like “character.” Otherwise good thread, I’ll have to think about this one.
Crap…that’s just one of those few words I’m always a letter off on. Oh well shit happens. Sorry for that.

Another one of my favorites from this decade. Excellently crafted charectEr, and played to perfection.
Yes, char-ACT-er, not charectorectamy … heh, just foolin’. I’m kinda stickin’ to the rules, but I’ll just list one filmmaker’s best characters for now:

Would Bruno Ganz’s portrayal of Hitler in Downfall count? Cause if it does, he’s easily in my top 10.
What filmmaker would that be?

My favorite bunch of characters in any film, ever. Specifically Richie, Chaz, and Royal… The only one I didn’t really care for was Margot, but I think that was sort of on perpose.
I agree with a lot of the ones already mentioned, particularly the guy from Punch Drunk Love.
Chigirn, No Country For Old Men
Bill, Kill Bill
Nicola & Matteo, The Best Of Youth
Bjork, Dancer in the Dark
Daniel Plainview
Jack Sparrow
Heath Ledger’s Joker — not a character from this decade, but he’s basically an original creation of Ledger’s
The Parr family in THE INCREDIBLES
Basically, the entire cast of characters in THE INCREDIBLES
Wall-E and Eve
Dug the Dog in UP
Christoph Waltz in BASTERDS, yeah, ok, can’t summon the character’s name…
@Hidden: Nicolas Winding Refn
Sara Diaz in The Goodtimeskid

@Roscoe, I can’t remember Walts’s character’s name either, I’m not sure if they even mention it. I just remember The Jew Hunter.
I agree about Wall E and Eva. I think it’s amazing how that movie can make us relate to and care for machines.

I also love all the wild things from Spike Jonze film…I was unsure about the movie at first (let me just say now that I’ve been a huge fan of the book since birth) but when I realized that (atleast in my interpretation) that every one of the Wild Things represented an aspect of Max’s personallity, and what was good and bad about it, I really really have come to love this film. I think it’s very unnapreciated.

This decade, Risselda. This decade. How about:

How about this?

I love Caden Cotard of “Synecdoche, New York” fame
Or this :

Dats what I’m talkin’ about. Good show, Brother.
I love the character Hank, played by Elias Koteas in Andrew Niccol’s “Simone”. There’s something tragicomic about a bloke who lost one of his eyes because of overexposure to PC monitor radiation.
Oooops, I got way too excited and missed the “this decade part”. My appologies!
That’s okay. Withnail is the greatest character of any decade.
Great character nevertheless, Risselada! One of my favourite films for sure.
Morpheus
Heh, that looks great – what film is that?
Hidden Behind the Screen
Theres been alot of discussion over the best films, filmmakers, actors, and actors turned filmmakers in the Best of the Decade thread series, but never a discussion of best charectors.
It really takes talent to craft superbly interesting charectors that really breath life into a film.
Whatever reasons you like a charector/charectors, post them here (pics please!) and of coarse tell why.
