Juzo Itami was an Japanese director who made his first movie at the age of fifty. He died under circumstances that suggested possible foul play involving the Yakuza, but not before leaving behind ten films that all stand up to an incredibly high standard of quality. His films are currently available on DVD but suffer from bad transfers and some questionable translations. For those of you who know the films of Juzo Itami help me in suggesting them to Criterion. For those of you who are unfamiliar, check out some of his work, it is all very rewarding.
