Awesome, reminds me that Faye Wong looked pretty cute in Chungking Express
Love that song, and love its use in the film. How well would Chungking Express have succeeded without it?
How well would Stranger Than Paradise have succeeded without “I Put a Spell On You”?
Can we ever hear that song again the same way though, knowing what we now know about John Phillips and his daughter MacKenzie?
And here’s another recent headline that made me shiver and cackle with dark humor: “HR Manager beaten to death by angry workers.” Having worked in a tension-filled, angry office, I could picture it happening… but was that someone in the wrong line of work or what? Or is that just the neglected, unharnessed human resource of the new century — murderous rage?
This song will always make me think of Chungking Express.
This song will always make me think of CHUNGKING EXPRESS
Hey Ben, that’s a great clip. Is that the Cranberries in Chinese? Too awesome. Faye Wong is wonderful. I remember living in Korea when CHUNGKING EXPRESS came out and I’ll bet it was winter and effing cold (it gets really cold in Seoul in the winter, like Wisconsin, where I"m from) and California Dreamin’ made me awfully homesick. Fast forward 6 years and I moved to LA, mostly cuz of that song and alotta Beach Boys. Been here ever since. Thanks for the memories too, Jaeger Inkman, if you’re still around.
