Canada or Australia. Which country makes better films?

Just a random question that I thought the MUBI community can ponder on. Give examples such as certain films, their artistic quality, etc…

P.S. This has nothing to do with any past anti-Canadian posts I have made.

That’s kind of like asking which STD you would rather have; herpes or Gonorrhea??

At least Canada has Cronenberg and Egoyan. One of the best Australian films ever made was actually directed by a Canadian(Wake In Fright)

I’ll just chime in and say the only Australian films (and I mean funded and made by Australians) that I think are worth a damn are Samson & Delilah, Sleeping Beauty and a little known independent film made in the late 70s called Pure Shit.

Apart from those examples, I can’t really defend Australian cinema as I find pretty much every Australian film released year after year quite repellant.

I’ll vouch for Wake In Fright to be good film.
