I was wondering the same. Doesn’t The Notebook here do some pretty good coverage of the festival?
Yes, the Notebook on Mubi is the best. I don’t usually read the Notebook section on here but their coverage of Cannes is exceptional. They highlight all the movies and include all the critical response as they come in. I keep track of all the Cannes films in a spreadsheet (yes, I’m a nerd) for reference later in the year (when the films actually come out) and the Notebook is what I use to get all my updates.

I wouldn’t rely on Notebook this year. They’ve lost a lot of steam in the last week since David Hudson announced he was moving on. New entries are now days between rather than daily. Hopefully that will not be the norm.
Please do provide links to good coverage. I’m particularly interested in people doing dedicated coverage of the sidebars like Critics Week and Directors Fortnight.
^Wait, what?
Does that mean there will be no daily coverage of the festival like last year?!!
I would doubt it. Hudson did a shitload of work. No one is picking up that slack that easily.
But all Hudson was really doing is aggregating, er, I mean, curating links, right?
That’s lame.
I’m never going back to Mubi again.
Ahh, how simple the difficult things can look. Did you ever notice the sheer volume of those daily aggregations? I couldn’t imagine dedicating the time and energy day in and day out to pool that sort of information. I don’t underestimate the job he did.
On that note…

Guy Lodge at InContention is far and away my favorite.
Not saying what David did was easy—it’s not—but what he was doing was really an editorial function rather than actual coverage or criticism.
Indiewire and MovieCityNews do some good work as well.
J. Hoberman, oh wait.
What about an aggregate site, like what Mubi used to do? I don’t care about individual reviews – I want them all!
If only RT covered Cannes.
Hudson’s doing the aggregation thing that he did here over at Keyframe
^Awesome, thanks!
(even though Hudson appears to be a trader)
Unfortunately we can’t offer the same type of coverage this year as in the past but hopefully this is of interest…
Fandor, In Contention, and The Playlist all have good Cannes coverage.
If you like stars, asterisks, numbers and averages, there’s this

Since we’re one day before the starting of the Cannes film Festival, I was wondering what website/blog/critics/reviewers you consider essential readings during the festival? I have a couple of sure pick, but I’m curious about what you consider are the essentials.
